Center for Oates Studies

The Wayne E. Oates Institute is pleased to introduce you to the Center for Oates Studies.  In 2006 the family of Wayne Oates made a donation to the Oates Institute of Dr. Oates' personal library;  including papers, letters, photographs, audio/visual resources, and books.  This generous gift created a unique opportunity for the Oates Institute to develop an innovative resource for ministry in the 21st century.  As we digitize more and more of these excellent resources the Center for Oates Studies will continue to expand.

Currently housed within the Center for Oates Studies are:

• The Wayne E. Oates Library featuring the books and papers of Wayne Oates
• The Media Center featuring lectures, interviews, and other recordings
  by Wayne Oates and his colleagues
• The Oates Legacy Pages featuring Wayne Oates' memorial service
  and letters sent in honor of his memory
• The Oates Award featuring the history and presentations of the recipients of this annual award granted by the Long Run Baptist Association and the Wayne E. Oates Institute
• The Wayne Oates Photo Gallery

While the Center's construction started in 2006 and some resources are currently accessible, construction on the Center will be a multi-year process.  New resources are constantly being added that will enhance academic and continuing education in the fields of Psychology of Religion, Pastoral Theology, Pastoral Care and Pastoral Counseling .  These resources are made possible by memberships and contributions to the Oates Institute.
