Dr. Wayne E. Oates: A Living Legacy

JUNE 24, 1917 - OCTOBER 21, 1999

Dr. Wayne E. Oates

Memories of Dr. Oates

from LeRoy K. Morris

My remembrances of Dr. Oates are: He was a joy to be with, so kind and always with a smile. He always greeted me by calling me by my first name. He was truly a man of God.

from Meta Herren Morris

When my husband died in l980 at retirement age, Dr. Oates' counsel was my strength for living. In l987, when my 88 year old father was very ill, Dr. Oates made all the arrangements for bringing him to Norton Hospital; securing the best possible doctor (one of his former students). He and Pauline were at his funeral fifteen months later. They "saw us through" and endeared themselves to my whole family. That a man of his stature could do so much for the common man was truly Christian; beyond duty or obligation.
