Dr. Wayne Oates had a profound influence upon me as a person and my work as a pastoral care giver. Through Clinical Pastoral Education, his influence has made me a better person and minister.

Even though I have not met him personally, I feel like he is one of my best mentors. In a quote during the Fall On-Line Conference (Wayne Oates Institute), Dr. Oates did not realize it, but he summarized his nature and his calling by showing how he always turned the praise and the glory away from himself, by saying to us that evening, "I thank God for all of you...." Well, Dr. Oates, we give God praise for you and your life, which will continue to live on in the profound "sense of caring."
