Reclaiming Out-of-Print Works:
The Wayne E. Oates
Republication Project
During his lifetime Wayne
Oates authored 57 books. Many of these
books continue to be recognized as significant contributions to the fields of
psychology of religion, pastoral care, and pastoral counseling.
Through the Wayne Oates Republishing Project the Oates Institute is republishing a number of his out-of-print works to make them available as eBooks, Online Editions, and quality paper backs.
We are grateful for the funding provided through a generous multi-year contribution from Rowland and Eleanor Miller of Louisville, Kentucky, and for additional grant funding from the Gheens Foundation as well as individual contributions to the Oates Institute Annual Fund.
Since 2003
the Wayne E. Oates Institute has electronically republished Revelation
of God in Human Suffering, Anxiety
in Christian Experience, When
Religion Gets Sick, The
Struggle to Be Free, Your
Right To Rest, Confessions
of a Workaholic, Christ
and Selfhood, and People
in Pain: Guidelines for Pastoral Care, co-authored by Wayne
Oates' son, Charles E. Oates, M.D.
In addition, Jack Fox, recipient of the 1997 Alexander Scourby National Award as narrator for nonfiction, recorded Dr. Wayne Oates autobiography, The
Struggle to Be Free.
Each of these books are available as eBooks and as online editions. The eBooks are optimized for use with the Adobe Acrobat eBook Reader and distributed on CD-ROM ($15 each) or by email ($10 each). The online editions are available to WEOI members through the WEOI Online Learning Center.
Several of Dr. Oates’ books including: The Christian Pastor, Behind the Masks, Nurturing Silence in a Noisy Heart, and Care of Troublesome People, remain in print with the original publishers and can be purchased through the Oates Institute's bookstore.
