— ABSTRACT OF ARTICLE —

Ministry of Vulnerability

Pastoral Care Presence with
Victims of Domestic Violence

by Richard B. Gilbert, D.Min., B.C.C.

Stripped naked and vulnerable, my resources and agendas were discarded faster than I could even sense that they were gone. I was left wide open and shoved aside as part of the problem, and yet, at least momentarily, I also was viewed as a possible solution.

This is a story about pastoral care and domestic violence. It is a story about how pastoral care givers can be truly sensitive to the real dangers that accompany domestic violence.
