Connection
... not distance
Connected
Learning is a collaborative learning process that
uses cyberspace to connect learners with themselves, other
learners, teachers, mentors, facilitators, and learning
resources while transcending the need for participants
to share the same time or space. Connected Learning is
an opportunity made possible by the convergence of new
technologies and new educational methodologies.

Online
Seminars
There is a growing
need for educational opportunities that do not require the
time and expense of travel or significant time away from
work. The Oates Institute offers 30 -40 Online Seminars each
year utilizing an exciting new approach to lifelong learning
developed by the Wayne Oates Institute. This approach, known
as Connected Learning, connects learners, resources,
and faculty in an online learning community. It is continuing
education that is affordable, relational, and opens the possibilities
for sustained learning and growth.
Most online seminars
are three-weeks in length. However, some are six weeks. Each
week seminar participants interact around a featured presentation
utilizing Email discussion. In order to receive the full
benefits of the Connected Learning approach, the
online seminars will have a minimum of eight participants
and a maximum of twelve. Participants may take part in these
seminars from any location according to their individual
schedules.
