Integrating Spirituality and Health Care
REGISTER BY APRIL 10! – Integrating Spirituality and Healthcare will explore the issue of spirituality and its changing nature as it applies to healthcare and to the patient, family, staff, and to the chaplain or other spiritual caregiver. The course presentation consists of three readings from published works by three different thought leaders in the space: Carl Middleton, Christina Puchalski and Joseph Rotella.
Following this seminar, participants should be able to:
- Recognize spirituality as an important dimension of health and healing.
- Facilitate inter-disciplinary dialogue regarding integrative care that is comprehensive, collaborative, and person-centered.
- Practice collaborative, comprehensive, compassionate, and person-centered care.
- Use the FICA method for taking a spiritual history and advocate for the advantages of becoming familiar with a patient’s spirituality as part of a comprehensive evaluation.
