Spiritual Care Research 101
In the last few years, a number of experts have argued for greater spiritual caregiver involvement in empirical research as a way to help spiritual caregivers improve the help they provide. Further, understanding and participation in empirical research in spiritual caregiving can help them make the case with administrators and other medical professionals about the importance of spiritual caregiver services. While it is changing, many spiritual caregivers express feelings of inadequacy as it relates to embracing research.
This course will help students gain a basic understanding of empirical research terminology; understand who search for and read for understanding empirical research; be able to differentiate between qualitative and quantitative research; and explore samples of research and how it can be used to benefit one’s practice and or to gather data for supporting spiritual care work.
